read lvdt in MAX

I'm using " measurement & automation explorer" for the first time. I'm trying to aquire a reading from AC LVDT sensor. In analog input configuration menu, I'm prompted to give exication souce voltage, sensitivity units, range?
My questions are:
exication source voltage, is that in VRMS of AC peak to peak?
sensitivity units: in specs for the sensor sensitivity is given as 4 V/inch/V, but in MAX only option with inches is mV/V/0.001in. The units seem to me different....? Should I input 4 mV/V/0.001in?
and finally, range: is that linear range of the sensor or stroke?

I've tried to find answer to these questions in the help file, but I couldn't find anything.
Please let me know,
Thanks,
Ivan

Hi Ivan,

In your post you mentioned that you are using MAX and trying to aquire some LVDT measurements for the first time, but you had a few questions:
  1. Excitation Voltage:  The Excitation Voltage refers to the V_RMS value of the AC excitation voltage.
  2. Sensitivity Units: The only values supported are mVolts/Volt/0.001 Inch and mVolts/Volt/mMeter.  In your 1 mV/V/0.001 inch = 1 V/V/1 inch (0.001/0.001 = 1).
  3. Range: Refers to the maximum linear range for the sensor.
I hope this information helps you.
