realtime engine question

I developed an application using LabWindows/CVI & built a release executable. When I took it home to try it out on my laptop, it gave the cvrte.dll error. In searching these boards, I found a link to & downloaded the latest real-time engine (apparently you need this installed to run executables built using LabWindows). Before I go forward w/ the install on my laptop (which also runs Windows XP), are there any other installation quirks or issues I should be aware of? Will I be able to do a complete uninstall if things don't go well? Does the RTE interfere w/ other common software packages that you all know of? Just thought I'd ask before taking the plunge, as I can't really afford any down time w/ my laptop right now.....

You have two options.

1. Install latest RUN tim engine and Create release exe and copy exe and uir to destination computer.

2. Create distribution kit. IN this option you don't have install runtime engine seperatly and you don't have to worry about coying files to destination computer.

thanks!

I didn't realize that about the distribution kit. I really don't want to install extra stuff on my home laptop just to try the program out there, so perhaps I will try your suggestion #2. I need to find the instructions for doing that, I'm sure I've seen it when browsing in LabWindows/CVI help.

Thanks again,

I would go with option 1 if you want to install minimin things. This will install runtime once and you are done. You can run any programs just by copying exe and uir files.
Distribution kit is more for rolling out your software. (Just like installing freeware from web) and when you have updated copy of your software you have to install it again.
with option #1 just delete two files and copy two files and you are done.
