signing information dialog box

Hello,

In order to have a nice installation on Vista I would like to add signing information to my distrubution kit.

But in the Signing information dialog box the Certificates box is empty. How can I get a certificate that will display in this box?

Thank you
Bertrand

Hi Bertrand,

The Certificates field displays a list of certificates that are installed in the My certificate store.   You must import the certificate from the file into the My certificate store so that CVI can locate it. To import a certificate, follow these steps:
  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options, and then click the Content tab.
  3. Click the Certificates button.
  4. On the Personal tab, select Import button and then following the steps. Once the certificate is added to the Personal tab's list, you should be able to see it in CVI

Hi Bertrand,

You need to purchase one from a commerical CA (Certificate Authority) like VeriSign or Thawte.  I would encourage you to read through the Authenticode MSDN page and the Code-Signing Best Practices MSDN page which covers all the information you need to know.

Best Regards,
