Rich,
There are three different modes for showing windows in the CVI workspace: released, confined w/ tabs, and confined w/ MDI.
In order to see more than window at a time, you should probably use either classic or confined w/ MDI. When you are using MDI, simply de-maximize the individual windows, and you can then position the windows however you like within the confinement region.
Here's how you choose among the three options:
1. To choose between classic and confined, use View>>Workspace View Selection or View>>Window Confinement Region (the former sets a few more options in addition to the confinement region).
2. If you choose the confined option, in order to further choose between tabs and MDI, use Options>>Environment>>Show Tabbed Workspace.
Keep in mind that even if you are using confined windows, you can always release an individual window (Window>>Release Window). This allows you to view multiple windows at the same time even if you use a tabbed workspace.
