NIDays 2014: Graphical System Design Conference
We had the pleasure of returning to the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in London last Tuesday for NI Days 2014 hosted by National Instruments. Austin Consultants have exhibited at NI Days for the last 8 years but this year, attendee numbers were higher than they have ever been, creating an exciting buzz throughout the exhibition and seminar sessions.
NI Days brings together more than 600 engineers, scientists and educators representing a vast array of industries from across the UK and overseas. With Keynote session including ‘You and NI are creating the Internet of Things’ and ‘You and NI will solve the Engineering Grand Challenge’ it was sure to be a day of big ideas!
Visitors to the Austin Consultants stand were treated to demo’s showcasing some unique ways our Engineers have utilised LabVIEW, including a USB missile launcher, a computer teaching itself to play the Flappy Birds game (artificial intelligence) and finally our Single Board RIO guitar demo!
Over on the Austin Resourcing stand; our sister company and recruitment arm, the team had the chance to discuss some of the unique ways in which Austin Resourcing help Clients and Candidates find new LabVIEW projects or source extra members for their existing teams. Austin Resourcing is a recruitment company specialising in LabVIEW talent, and as part of Austin Consultants, each potential candidate takes part in a unique screening process designed by our Certified LabVIEW Architects to assess their level of knowledge in LabVIEW and other National Instruments programming languages. This enables Austin Resourcing to pair Candidates with Clients who are safe in the knowledge that their skills match the requirements of the project.
The final event at NI Days was ‘Challenge the Champions’ in which our very own Certified LabVIEW Architect Dan Boxshall took part! The session is designed to test the knowledge of LabVIEW champions from top UK LabVIEW User Groups and tests them with LabVIEW trivia questions and programming tasks. This entertaining session gave the audience a chance to be the judging panel and all see how their knowledge compares to the UK’s best!
