ASCII Object in Lookout ver 4.0.1

Hi,

Once the "comms" area has gone into alarm (eg due to a device timeout or
garbled frame error) the ASCII driver seems to hang up permanently.

How do I get it to start reading and writing to/from the connected
device, without using Oject/Modify whilst in edit mode?

Try creating a Textentry object and connecting it with the "Request" Data member for Ascii object and create an expression of the "response" data member, also you can create a pushhbutton and connecting it with the Update data member, so you can write the appropiate string to quering your device in the text entry object and polling pushing the button and see whats happens.

I have the same problem, I don't think this solution will work as the Update and Com Fail data members are not writable. Once it gets stuck with a bad response there seems no way to reset without going into edit mode and changing something.

A workable solution would be very useful.
