Did you mean:

Accessing non-logged data through ODBC

Just some off-the-wall suggestions:

Net DDE....I know, I know...

Data Socket Server...another windows specific app of course but quite efficient from my experience.

You could use a small packaged labview app called from lookout to separately serve/share/database these values only when needed.

As radical as it sounds, how about NI just fixing the Server Explorer so that it works????  OPC seems to be the right solution for everything else, just not Lookout right now.  If the problem is the NI Server Explorer, how about they correct the problem?

I was not aware that Server Explorer could retrieve/display tags unless they were data mined.

Perhaps the other drivers are defaulted that way.

When I start the Server Explorer, I see a list of th OPC servers I have running.  (right now I have 505PLC, DL_Direct, AB_Access, and the LookoutOPCServer listed).

I can connect to any of the devices successfully.

If I then say to 'Add Groups', and add a group to the OPC server, that works successfully.

If I then say to 'Add Items' to that group, I can add individual items successfully (That is, I can add a single tag to the monitoring group).

So far, so good.  But like I said, I have thousands of tags.

The only way I've seen to automate the process of adding tags to the group is to run the Wizard.  If I run that, all goes well until I come to the final step of populating the 'Wizard Group'.  At that time, the program runs for around 30 seconds, and then exits. For the other drivers, they will add all their tags to the group, and then I can continue with the program.

So, it looks to me like the Server Explorer fails on Lookout, but is successful on others.  Hence, the Server Explorer needs to be fixed.
