AutomationDirect PLC ECOM communication with Lookout 6.7.1

We have a WIN XP ( NI lookout 6.0)  system that we are upgrading to WIN 7( NI LOOKOUT 6.7.1). The existing system has an H4-ECOM100 ethernet module connected to a network.  To make it work we purchased the AutomationDirect PC-DL-PLUS which is a driver for the NI Lookout.  The problem that has arised it that the PC-DL-PLUS driver was obsoleted in May of 2014 and will only run on Win XP and not WIN 7 as stated by AutomationDirect tech support.

Has anybody else run into this?  I bet NI did not bild this in since Lookout 6.5.This driver made every thing to set up.  I have looked at OPC drivers but this will cause a lot of re-work in upgrading the system.

I know Lookout is a 32 bit package, but has any body run this on Win 7 64 bit?  Our conpany buys 64 bit hardware / OS at this time. NI states it will not run on a 64bit system, even when installed in x86 mode

Thanks in advance,

Michael

ECOM100 supports Modbus TCP, use the modbus driver.

If you used Data Member Aliases for the development, creating a new driver with the aliases may not be too much work.

I had the same problem for long time. after lot of work I findout this solution. It is working in my laptop running win 7/64, but I don´t know how steady it is because not run for long time connected to PLC. I am developer .

Try this and let me know the results to maguerrero@icp.com.do.

1-. Install Lookout in Lookout x.x directory.
2-. Install DirectLogic plus in Lookout directory. It will create two directory, Lookout and DirectSOFT5.
3-. Copy all files from DirectSOFT5/BIN directory (created in step 2) to Lookout x.x directory (created in step 1) .
4-. Uninstall DirectLogic Plus and delete DirectSOFT5 directory (created in step 2) . If ask to reboot computer, do it.
5-. Rename Lookout x.x directory (created in step 1)  to BIN.
6-. Install DirectLogic Plus again in directory Lookout.
7-. Copy DSComm4.cbx and Meter.cbx from Lookout (created in step 6) to BIN (created in step 5).
