False alarm prevention

I use alphanumeric paging in Lookout V6.0.1 and I am trying to find a way to help counter act false alarms.  I suppose the preferable method would be to have a 10min timer that would delay page outs.  This is an option in the numeric paging, but not the alphanumeric for some reason.

A simple timer will not work though, because in the case of a solid alarm AND a flapping alarm, the timer will continually restart and never page the other alarm.

Has anyone come up with a solution for this?

Thanks!

To prevent a flipping alarm due to level fluctuations, i used the Deadband under the Data Member Configuration, Alarm Conditions settings.   You could also use the Neutralzone object to filter out the fluctuations.

I'm also having problems with false alarms caused by a temporary high reading from my level transducer.  Is there a way to verify the alarm is active for at least 10 minutes before sending an email message out?

We did find a way to inject a delay.  I created a counter object that resets when an unack'ed alarm comes in and counts on a by the second timming.  Then I set my pager object to wait until both the unack'ed alarm was true and my counter equaled the counter value I desired.

I did it this way so that the counter could be reset or canceled by the local user if there happens to be an opperator at the monitoring station.

** We did find that there is a flaw in Lookout 6.0.1.1 that when using Alphanumeric paging it only pages out one alarm when two fire off at the same time.  But that's not exactly on topic.  🙂
