How to set up Lookout''s OPC Server?

I have several computers running the same Lookout 6.0.2 application. All of they use Lookout OPC Client object to exchange data with a motion control card inside the same computers.

Now, I'm looking to monitor some (a few) variable values of these Lookout applications remotely for maintenance scheduling purpose. I can have Lookout in the monitor computer or any other software with OPC Client, but I don't know how to set up the OPC server in these systems.

All these systems I want to monitor are Run Time Only Servers.

Any help available?

Lookout itself is an OPC Server, called LookoutOPCServer.
See this KB.

Then, I'm missing something......

When setting up the OPCclient in the monitor computer, I select remote servers, and then browse for computers. Browsing in our company network, I can find the computers, but I don't see the processes.

I haven't have yet the OPCclient working and/or connected to the remote processes.

Something to ask to the IT personnel?

Can you see the OPC Servers on remote computer?

Try to steps below to connect remote OPC Server.

1. Account preparations
 (a) If you work with two computers in the same domain, just add your domain account to the 'administrators' group in both computers.
 (b) If you work with two computers not in any domain, create two totally same accounts (same user names and same passwords) for both computers.
And make these two accounts as member of the 'Administrators' group. (Or you can assign the same password for both 'administrator' accounts.)

2. DCOM security settings
Just follow the instructions from OPC foundation. http://www.opcfoundation.org/DownloadFile.aspx?CM=3&RI=326&CN=KEY&CI=282&CU=44

3. 'Security Options' configuration (both sides)
Launch the 'Local security settings' window. (Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Local Security Policy)
Choose 'Security Settings -> Local Policies -> Security Options' from the left tree. And make sure the value of policy 'Network access: Sharing and security model for local accounts'
is 'Classic - local users authenticate as themselves'.
