I need to prevent users to open the Windows Start menu from Lookout on Windows XP

I have a problem to prevent users from switching to other applications and opening Windows Start menu while they are in Lookout. This feature works in Win 2K but in Windows XP don't. Looking at keyboard driver in Control Panel -> Keyboard Properties and comparing it with one in Win 2K, I found that special driver from NI is not instaled under XP. Does anyone know the solution?

The current National Instruments keybord driver shipping with Lookout and LabVIEW Datalogging and Supervisory Control Module is designed to work with either Windows NT (.sys) or Windows 9x (.vxd). Since the Windwos NT driver does not work properly (does not filter all the "critical" keys from sophisticated keyboards, replaces other keyboard driver filters/drivers...) under Windows 2000 and XP, the recent Lookout installers should not install this driver under Win 2000/XP.

National Instruments is aware of this problem and is working on an updated driver.

For now, you have to use Windows NT instead.

Hope this helps

I found in addition:
Install NT keyboard driver manually on Windows 2000:
1. Copy file nikbdprt.sys (from installation on an NT system) to system32\drivers folder
2. Change the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\i8042prt\ImagePath in the registry from System32\DRIVERS\i8042prt.sys to System32\DRIVERS\nikbdprt.sys
3. Restart computer

REMEMBER: This keyboard driver is not designed for Windows 2000/XP and might not work properly. Especially with new technology standards as PS/2 keyboard, USB keyboard or HAL designed keyboard drivers hook-ins. (e.g. Windows key is not disabled when used through PS/2 port keyboard) Most likely you will loose the Windows 2000/XP different shutdown modi while you replace the standard i8042prt.sys with the ni
kbdprt.sys.
Please, be aware, changing your registry like that could be a risk for your system. Take appropriate steps (Emergency Reapair Disk) to undo the change.
