I want to create a Modbus Slave to communicate with a DCS (Modbus Master) on TCP

I am looking to setup lookout so that I can Poll one computer for information from a DCS acting as the Modbus Master. I need to do this over an ethernet network, not serially. Is this possible? If so, how do I go about it?

You have a few options, depending on the controller.

Modbus TCP Slave, simplest ive used.

Good luck

Thanks for the response.

I think I probably should have been a bit more specific. I'm looking to do this using Lookout. I am aware of the Modbus and ModbusSlave Objects, but is there a way to set them up to have my system be a slave on a TCP/IP network? I have read some places that say it can't be done, while others say it can be.

Can Modbus TCP Slave be used with Lookout? As an OPC object? I'm pretty confused here.

Yes, you can. See this KB.

The Ethernet option was added in 2004, so maybe you see some threads before 2004 saying that it is not supported.

What's your lookout version?

If you don't have Lookout software, you can download the evaluation version from http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/509/lang/en.
