LKS file- adding comments

I am using direct text editing on LKS file rather extensively these days. I'd like to be able to add comments.
Question:My reading of the text header indicates that the "\****any text*****\" indicates comment.
This seems to not mess up the complile.
However it seems if an edit to the app is done via lookout (that would modify the same lks file): the comments may or may not be there when next viewed with a text editor.
Does anybody have insight on the comment functions of the LKS?

Hi,

When you edit and save a process in Lookout, the previous .lks file is overwritten by the editor, and therefore, any comments that you have added will be overwritten as well. There isn't a method to retain those comments from one version of the process to the next.

In general, National Instruments does not recommend that you make changes to the .lks file directly unless it is absolutely necessary.

Regards,
P.J.
