Lookout 4.01. and the Internet

Hi,

I 'd like to create a html page out of my process and acces it through the
Internet Explorer.

Everything works fine except, ther is an error at the end of the downloading
process (for the Loookout controls): Error downloading file!

Any idea??

Thanks

Rajko

Hello Rajko!

First I have some questions to you.: How come your e-mail address ends with
@ni.com? Do you work at National Instrument? If so, why are you asking these
questions?

I have the same problem as you, only this is in 4.0. I think that maybe it
has to do with the web server setup.
In 4.01 lookout will not create the page and gives the following message:
"Web Export Error"
"This process will not run in a Client version of Lookout."

Regards
Johan

Hello Johan,

The reason why you're getting the "Web Export Error..This process will not
run in a Client version of Lookout" error is because you're trying to export
a process which has driver object(s) in it.

Lookout Web Client is like the regular Client version of Lookout, that is,
without any driver objects (no Modbus, AB, Mitsubishi, etc., Objects). So,
when you try to export a process which has any of these driver objects, Lookout
4.0.1 intelligently warns you to not to do so.

The correct way of exporting a process to a web server, is to first create
a "client" process with considerations such as no driver objects, the panel
is activated/maximized, etc. and export this process rather than the server
process which has driver objects to communicate wit
h your hardware.

The most common problem users encounter with Lookout Web Client is the security
setting for Internet Explorer. Make sure you have a security of 'Low' for
your Internet, and the Local Intranet options in IE.

Regards,

Khalid

Hello Khalid!

I discovered the driver object problem just before you came with the answer.
But thanks anyway.

After fixing this problem, I still cant view the process from a another
computer over our intranet. I think i has to do with the Personal web server
setup.
Do you have any Idea on how I should set this up?
Do I need to have client licences registrated in Lookout for this to work?

Best Regards

Hi Johan,

Depending on what server you're using, the setup steps will differ. You'll
have to get some help from the Server company in setting it up correctly.
Once you're sure the server is setup correctly, make sure the security settings
(for bothe Internet and Intranet) in your Internet Explorer are at Minimum
and try again. If problem persists, try this on the same machine as the
Server first.

Regards,

Khalid
