Lookout does not see added Field Point module

Lookout 6.0 does not recognize an added Field Point module.
I downloaded the 6.02 file and ran the install. The install says it cannot be installed because I already have version 6.0, and this downloaded install looks like 6.0 in any case.
Gave up on that and followed the instructions in 3XA8JQPX, and that did exactly nothing.

This worked without any problem until now, and I have made no changes to XP or anything else. The FP module is working fine and it shows up OK in Measurement and Automation Exprorer 3.1.1.2007.

Can anyone help?

Fritz

You need to un-install Lookout 6 before installing Lookout 6.0.2.

Run the un-installer and have it remove all NI stuff first, then install the new software.

I did all of that. No change at all.

The problem seems that Lookout does not see the .iak file from Field Point. There is no place in Lookout to direct where to find this file, and If I changed it in MAX for some reason, Lookout is lost. I am using OPCFieldPoint. I scanned the computer and there is only one .iak file in the whole system, so Lookout must be seeing the same file every time. There are no communication problems since MAX sees the FP box and it gets data.

Can you help?

Um, OK. You said 6.0.2 would not install. It won't install over 6.0, you have to un-install 6.0 before installing 6.0.2.

So what version is running now? I have no idea if it will help your NI hardware headaches.

In any case, 6.0.2 is NOT the same as 6.0!

It is 6.02, but same results.

Do you know where I can force a file read or change the location of the .iak file? There is no way to do this.

I think it reads the most recently saved .iak file.

Fine, but how is it directed to read the file? How do you tell Lookout to read the file in a particular location?

Sounds like you do not know this system at all.

Do you have anyone who knows Lookout? This has been over a week with generalities as answers.

OPCFieldPoint does not read the iak file directly.
When you save the iak file in MAX, the Fielpoint OPC server reads it.  OPCFieldPoint communicates with the server as an OPC client.
So, after you change the FP module, update the iak file in MAX and save it, you need to refresh the object in Lookout to show the new module. There is no way to tell this object to read the file in a particular location.

Refresh does nothing.

Problem solved. It may have been my oversight all along. Probably so.

Thanks for the help.
