Lookout prevents laptop from hibernating

I installed Lookout 6 on my laptop and since then I have been unable to go into hibernate or standby mode. My laptop just freezes up when displaying the "preparing to hibernate" message and I have to do a hard reset. When I uninstalled Lookout hibernate and standby started working again. Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas what the cause is?

RJC,

The problem that you are experiencing is most likely related to Lookout's Keyboard Filter. Lookout includes a Keyboard Filter that allows it to filter out certain keystrokes that the programmer doesn't want the operator to be able to use (like Ctrl + Alt + Del, for example). This program runs in the background of your computer when installed, and is most likely causing the system hangs that you are experiencing.

To remedy this, the simplest thing that you can do is to uninstall the filter in Lookout. To do this, go into Add and Remove Programs, choose to "Modify" your installation of Lookout, and de-select the "NI Keyboard Filter Driver." This should take care of the problem that you are experiencing.

Please post back if you have any questions.
