Sensaphone SCADA 3000 Dialup Troubles

Hi,
I am attempting to communicate with a (phonetics) sensaphone scada 3000 PLC via modbus serial dialup modem.
the Modbus service dials the unit and connects however Lookout then gives alarm:
Garbled communication response from Modbus secondary(6):Response too short
and promptly hangs up.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Steve

Hi lfpwd,

I have a few suggestions to try:

1. First, make sure you have the most up-to-date fixes for your particular version of Lookout. Go to the ni.com>>Drivers and Updates page found at the following link:
http://digital.ni.com/softlib.nsf/MainPage?ReadForm&node=132010_US

Then using the pull-down bars, select your version of Lookout and click "Go" to get a list of the the most up-to-date fixes. I am recommending this step, because certain fixes specifically address the error message "Garbled communication response from Modbus secondary(0):Response too short", for more information see the following KnowledgeBase:
http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/FD124E0D30CD57CC86256B6C005757C7?OpenDocument

2. Second, try increasing the Receive Gap setting for your Serial Port in Lookout (under Options menu). By default it should be set to 20 bytes, so try a few other values such as 50 or 100 bytes and see what happens.

Please let me know if you have any success.

Thanks,

Jeff M.
