how do you send a text message in Lookout

I know this question has been asked in the past but I can't find it. I am using Lookout 5.1 and I need to send a text message to a cell phone. I think I need to use the mailer object. Thanks for the help.

Hello Carl!

There is not built in text messaging functionality in lookout.  I did though find an interesting post about how send specific commands to your modem to access SMS functionality.

I hope this helps.  Have a great day!

Thanks guys, but I think I will take a little different appraoch. I have found that the cell phone web sites allow the ability to send a text message from email. (ex. 2223459898@messaging.nextel.com). So I can simply use the Lookout mailer object with my alarm message as the body of the object.

Carl,

This may a little late but I have been using the mailer object to send alarm messages successfully.

I have been successful at sending it to any of the major service provider but having an active internet connection (not dialup) is best for reliability.

Be sure to extend the timeout for sending as some internet providers are slow in accepting email.

I use an expression object for the email list and the message. Save alot of time.
