Accessing logged data from CVS-1456

I have successfully logged data to my CVS-1456 unit using a program built in NI Vision Builder AI. Is there an easy way to access the data from the CVS to view my inspection results?

The easiest way to get access to the files logged on the CVS is to FTP to the device. The following Knowledge Base article will help with that:

How Do I FTP to the Compact Vision System (CVS 145x)?

Is it possible to upload the data to a network drive if the CVS is connected to a network?

If you go to the NI Vision Builder for Automated Inspection: Configuration Help >> Configuring Inspection Steps >> Additional Tools >> Data Logging >> How to Configure - it has a description on how to log measurements to an FTP server or to send measurements to a TCP device. One of these should allow you to put the data onto the network.

From what I understand there are two options to log data from the CVS

  • Log to local drive
  • Log to FTP

When I log to a local drive, does this include local drives on the development PC/network, or does this pertain to solely the local drive of the CVS? When I've tried this option in the past, the only locations to save files on are on the CVS itself.

Thanks

Log to Local Drive is logging to the drive of the device you are targeting. So, if you are targeting the CVS and use Log to Local it will save files to the CVS memory.

The other option is to run an FTP server on a network PC and save data files from your CVS to that machine. I discuss how to do this with a free FTP server here. (http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=200&thread.id=19840&view=by_date_ascending&page=1)

Does this make sense?

Yes this does. I was just wondering if there was any alternative to logging to FTP or the local CVS drive. It looks like there is not.

Thanks!

No, there is no alternative. What did you have in mind?
