All grabbed images are NI Test Image

I'm grabbing images via 1433 with a custom vi executables.

All the grabbed images are unexpectedly the NI test image  (see enclosed).

Did anyone experience similar situation before? All images are vertical gradient strips?

I'm using HP dx7400 and the PCIe 1433 is installed on a full-height PCI Express x16.

But from the manual of dx7400, that x16 slot is remarked for graphic cards:

"One (1) full-height PCI Express x16 slot on PCA (for graphic cards)"

Wondering if my 1433 is not correctly installed and causing the grabbing problem.

Any comments would help.

Hello kcin,

The PCIe-1433 can be used in an x16 slot, but it is possible that your motherboard is limiting the data rate to x1. Take a look at page 4 of the Getting Started Guide for the PCIe-1433 here.

Wondering if the "up-plugging" as mentioned in that guide is causing the problem.

Tried with another machine with x4 PCI-E slot (x16 wired as x4, actually) and it's the same -- showing NI Test Images (vertical gradient strips) whenever I grab images.

May I know what kind of PCs have you installed the NI PCIe frame grabbers in? I'm using Dell Optiplex and HP dx7x00.

Plugging into a x1 slot will only make the card go slower (ad possibly get FIFO overflows), there is no way it would cause the test image to appear.

What camera file are you using? I think the default camera file for the 1433 might be the test image. You'd have to switch it in MAX to the correct one for your camera.
