Basler raL8192-80km has black/zero pixels

Hi,

I have a Basler raL8192-80km linescan camera that I've set up to use 8 taps by editing the camera file provided by NI - see this post for details http://forums.ni.com/t5/Machine-Vision/Running-a-Basler-raL8192-80km-at-full-speed/td-p/3364356

I've now found that there are vertical bands in the image - this is using one of the built-in test images in the camera, so it should rule out anything to do with the optics

This is part of a 8192 x 8000 pixel image I grabbed in MAX.  On each scanline there are 6 pixels that look ok followed by 2 black pixels, repeated across the entire image

Hi Brett,

You can start by:

1) Test a different camera and cable
2) Test a freshly downloaded camera file for the exact camera model
3) Check to make sure that the tap configuration that you have for the camera is correct (valid for this camera). You can do this using our camera file generator program found here:

Thanks for your reply Daniel.  I've gone back to the original camera file and the test images look ok using the "Basler raL8192-80km" settings.

Unfortunately this just gets me back to the original problem that this file doesn't support using 8 taps in the camera, so the maximum scanline rate is restricted to 40k lines/sec which is half of what the camera is actually capable of.

For my application I need to run at 65k lines/sec which is why I selected this camera in the first place

Cheers

Brett
