Hey Jan,
Why don't you send your contact info to vbai.support@gmail.com and we can contact you to get more details and information about the probnlems you're having so we can work out a strategy for getting you up and running.
Thanks,
Brad

Why don't you leave it on the discussion forum so that the rest of us who are paying for support and have been having the same problem for the past two years can also see the solution?

I am having trouble getting the info I need to figure out exactly what the problem is. I think it will be a more efficient use of my time and Jan's to talk one on one. After talking with Jan I will make sure to update this thread with the information I get and any steps we take to address the problem.
Thanks,
Brad

It sounds like the main issue many of you have with the CVS legacy step in VBAI is that it doesn't automatially try to reconnect if the connection is temporary lost. Is this correct? Are there any other issues with the step or legacy driver? Just trying to consolidate the feedback and make sure I didn't miss anything.
Thanks,
Brad

For me personally, it is one of the biggest issues I have with VBAI.

I agree with Mike except the issue isn't that it won't reconnect, the issue is that it disconnects. If the camera loses communication with the CVS for any reason the inspection process isn't reliable enough to be of any use. Our equipment runs two shifts with a two second cycle time. The loss of production when a system goes down is unacceptable. What concerns me is that this doesn't seem to happen with all cameras. Since we have replaced our cameras with AVT Guppy cameras we havn't had this problem. I am sure the problems are all driver related. We can reproduce the problem 100% of the time with our original cameras. I think VBAI is outstanding software and when it works it works well. Unfortunately it doesn't always work.

Here is a LLB for the CVS that will allow the CVS to try reconnecting when the acquisition step runs if the camera gets disconnected for some reason. This will only work when running an inspection on the CVS, it won't work when clicking around or just running a state and not the entire inspection (i.e. you must be in inspection mode or use the top run button in Configuration mode). Let me know if you have any problems with it. We plan to add this in a shipping patch in the upcoming months. Put this file on the CVS under vbai/plugins (you may want to rename your current LLB in case you want to easily get back to the original behavior. You must reboot the CVS after copying this file to the CVS for VBAI to use it instead of the original one.
Thanks,
Brad
