CVS changing text based files

Hello,

We're using configuration files (text based) to store parameters on the CVS. However if we want to change something to this configuration files, we first need to copy the file to our laptop/pc, change it (i.e. by using notepad) and next copy it back to the CVS. Isn't there a program which handles this automatically? So I can change a configuration file directly on the CVS (or it's making a temporary copy first and replace it afterwards, so as if it looks like I'm working directly on the CVS).

I prefer to use FileZilla. It allows you to edit text files on the target by automatically downloading and uploading files as needed. See attached screenshot.
