Can I use a Windows Video Capture Card with IMAQ?

Hi.

I have to put together a proof-of-concept vision system. I have a low-cost NTSC camera and a Windows based Video capture card (Hauppage WinTV) For initial setup, this hardware will be sufficient.

Can I get IMAQ to capture and work with the video from this card?

Thanks,
Ben

Hello,

NI-IMAQ is the driver for our own National Instruments imaqe acquisition boards. The driver will not work with any other board or device. However, IMAQ Vision is our software package for image analysis. This software will work for any supported image type (such as bmp, tiff, jpeg, png, etc) no matter what the source....it could have even been clipped from the internet. So the main issue will be getting the images from your third party video capture card. If this device comes with it's own driver, then we can make calls to the dll with labview or labwindows/cvi in order to acquire an image....then we can process and analyze the images with Vision.

Hope this helps,
Juan
