Can IMAQ 1394 aquire 12 bit digital camera images?(Basler A102f/fc 12 bit)

Juncar,

Do you have NI-IMAQ v3.0 or later installed? I'm not positive you need this but your problem seems to be driver related. If you don't have NI-IMAQ installed, I'd remove NI-IMAQ for 1394, install NI-IMAQ then reinstall NI-IMAQ for 1394.

Good luck!

Good morning,

I already had installed NI-IMAQ v3.0 and the problem persist. I am using Windows XP Service Pack 1. I think the problem could be the PCMCIA card I am using. Anne Marie, I should be grateful if you would tell me the manufacturer and the model of the PCMCIA card you are using. I am going to do some test on the computer using Windows 2000 but I think the problem will not melt away.

Thanks a lot.

Juancar,
I am going to suggest that you install NI-IMAQ for IEEE 1394 ver 1.5.2 on ANY other desktop computer with a firewire port on it. Then we will see if it's the PCMCIA card/laptop/extender you have. Also, if you have ever bought NI-IMAQ for IEEE 1394 ver 1.5 or higher, you can download and update the driver to version 2.0 for free using the serial number from your 1.5.x. This download is at the link below:
http://digital.ni.com/softlib.nsf/websearch/c38f70385870f32886256fcb00767061

This is all provided that you are using LabVIEW 7.0 or above and Windows 2000 or XP. If you do not have at least these versions of software DO NOT install NI-IMAQ for IEEE 1394 ver 2.0.

There is also one little trick you can try if your camera will not show up in MAX. Leave the camera plugged into the computer. Go to the device manager and right click on the camera and tell it to uninstall. Then click the button on top of the device manager that says "scan for hardware changes". Then open MAX and right-click on the camera and change the driver to the NI-IMAQ driver.

Hope something here helps,

Hi,

Hi Juancar,
Yes my firewire card is a "Mentor IEEE 1394 Cardbus" (the only other things it says on it are "P/N:PCM1394DLV" and "S/N:PCM1394DLV0251000142". Hope that is useful. I am using Windows XP SP1 also. My problem was that I had installed everything as I thought, including NI-IMAQ, but did not realise that there was also a NI-IMAQ firewire camera drivers package which was required to be purchased separately.
Now Max can see my camera no problem. If I attach a different camera Max can see that too but cannot load the driver for it until I right click on it and assosciate the NI-IMAQ IEEE driver with it.

Good afternoon,

Firstly, I want to apologise for answering so late, but after doing a lot of tests and suggestions from all of you as well as National Instrument staff, we didn`t get it, so we decided to send the camera to National Instrument and they checked the communications between the camera and found, according to NI emails, that "the camera goes into a pending state if they set the initialization register and somehow it never comes out of that pending state". So, according to the National Instruments specialists, it seemed to be a problem with the camera`s firmware. After coming back from USA, the camera has been sent to the Basler company and they have replaced it for another one in which has been installed and checked the well operation. So, the problem was not on the PCMCIA card or NI software, the problem was in the firmware installed on the camera.

I would like to thank all of you for your support. Thank you very much.

See you.

Juancar
