Can NI Vision builder work with saved .avi files and how

Hello. I am a student trying to track the motion of resin flow in a laminate using NI Vision builder. I took a video of the process and saved it as an avi file. However, if i try to upload it to vision builder, it gives me the error message " you have selected invalid image type" This confuses me because the avi file type is clearly stated as an acceptable format for video uploads to ni vision builder. 

I read somewhere that i have to change it to grayscale, but doesn't that mean the video has to be uploaded first?

indeed Labview and VS and VB use esp format of avi file if your avi file is not in this format of comparison these software could not open it
for solve this problem use some change format software like Formatfactory

Are you getting this error message from the Simulate Acquisition step?

The Simulate Acquisition step should let you open AVI files. Insert a Simulate Acquisition step (located in the Acquire Images tab), and have the path point to your AVI.
