Can't run the webcam with MAX and LV12

Hi,

I would like to configure and run a webcam via Measurement & Automation Explorer and Labview 2012.

I am working in windows 7 Ultimate (64bits).

Labview: 2012 (32bits) V 12.0f3

MAX: V5.3.3f2

Vision Acquisition Software: 2011

I installed Labview 2012 without issue. Then i installed Vision Acquisition Sofware 2011 to have the library neccesary for the webcam. But, before the end of the installation. I got this error screen ( see bellow Windows_Firewall_Might_Be_Enabled.jpeg): WARNING: Windows Firewall Might Be Enabled. So, i tried to turn OFF, turn ON my Windows Firewall. I have still had the same error screen even if I tried to reinstall Vision.

Any ideas about this issue?

Then I ran Measurement & Automation Explorer, go to Devices and Interfaces and NI-IMAQdx Devices. I can see my webcam ( Logitech HD Webcam C270). Double click on it. And i have the first error screen :cwimaq Errors loading control. The default settings for the control will be used. Then this error message: cwimaq Error creating default control. And i have a Unexpected Error (see picture bellow). I tried couple times to restart the computer. But It is still the same issue. So, I really don't know why it is doing that. Any ideas?

And when I run Labview and try to go in propreties of Vision Acquisition Express: Labview displayed : Unable to view properties. So I can't use my webcam with Labview for the moment. Furthermore, I downloaded ni_imaq_usb_installer_86 to get the  good library for the usb.

Thanks for helping me,

Best regards,

Francois

Francois,

CWIMAQ is our older vision acquisition driver.  You should check to see what driver is associated with the webcam under windows device manager and verify that it is associated with the IMAQdx driver.  Do you have any older National Instruments software on your computer?

LVbum42,

First of all, thanks for answering.

I checked with device manager for driver is associated with the webcam. I found this:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\LogiShrd\LVMVFM\UMVPFSrv.exe

C:\Windows\System32\drivers\ksthunk.sys
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\lvuvc64.sys

C:\Windows\System32\lvco13311044.dll
C:\Windows\System32\lvcod64.dll
C:\Windows\System32\LVUI64.dll
C:\Windows\System32\LVUIRC64.dll

C:\Windows\SysWOW64\lvcodec2.dll
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\LVUI2.dll
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\LVUI2RC.dll

I don't really how to verify with the IMAQdx driver.

I am trying to extract this file dcd_feb12_1_downloader.exe with the last driver. I may be lost one. What do you think?

On my computer, it was installed only run-time Engine. But any older National Instruments software before.

Francois

I found this topic http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/244E6DDF9A92A6CD8625730100629047

Vision Development Module Version

LabVIEW
2012 N N N N N N N N N N N N N Y

So, I am thinking this is probably my issue. Because I installed Labview 2012 but my VDM is 2011.

Anybody has already installed VDM 2011 on Labview 2012, and it is or not working?

Francois,

You are correct in saying the VDM 2011 is incompatible with LabVIEW 2012.  However you should still be able to acquire images in MAX on your camera.  Since you have VDM 2011 you would notice some post processing VIs missing in LabVIEW 2012.  When you purchase VDM you get a license for our Vision Acquisition Software which includes our NI-IMAQ, NI-IMAQdx, and NI-IMAQ I/O drivers to communicate with the cameras.   Because you already have the Vision Acquisition Software License, you are able to upgrade the IMAQ drivers free for life. Below are links explaining our vision licensing and the VAand the download page. Upgrading may solve the issues you are experiencing and allow you to acquire images in MAX and LabVIEW 2012.  However VIs such as vision assistant or other post processing algorithms would be incompatible because they are from VDM 2011.

LVbum42,

I tried to install VAS 2012 and VDM 2012 as evaluate products. And the result is still the same. I still can't configure my webcam with MAX even if I can see it. And I can't see properties for the Vision Acquisition Express in LV12.

I checked if the Directshow is installed, and it is the case. Yesterday I checked to update for all drivers, still the same.

Do you think I have to reinstall LV2012? But it is wired...

Any more ideas?

Thanks for helping me,

Verify that your copy of Vision Acquisition Software is activated in NI License Manager.  It should be under Start->Programs->National Instruments->NI License Manager.  If it is activated, the tree on the left should have a green square under Vision Acquisition software.   In windows device manager you can try right clicking on your device and updating the driver->"Browse My Computer for driver..."->"Let me pick from a list of drivers on my computer".  There you will see the Logitic Driver available but also another one called USB Video Device.  Try installing that driver and restarting your computer.

Thanks LVbum42,

I uninstalled and reinstalled again Vision 2011 and it looks like to run well. I have not yet had all the library this time but I can see my webcam and I can configure it and use it. So, I am happy.

Thanks for helping me,
