Create AVI with text overlay

Here is what I want to do, create a 5 second avi of a live images that has text overlay of data received from other instruments. I have tried the example AVI write from this web site, it works very well. However it I use Vision text overlay functions, they are not recorded. I have purchased a BOBII text overlay device and wrote the information to it. This works but the BOBII causes a timeout error with my IMAQ card( which is random, could happen in 10 minutes or hours of use). I have purchased the Imagemill product, however when the avi is being written, the live image slows down to a crawl, as well it does not save the text overlay. Does anybody have any other help they could offer? Should I abandon the use of the IMAQ Hardware and try someth
ing different? If so what?

If you have Vision 6.1, you can use the new Merge Overlay.vi to make your overlays destructive so they are now part of the image instead of just on top of it. With this VI, the overlay will be included in any file you create using your AVI toolkits.
