Diameter of bottle detection using Machine Vision is it possible ?

The camera will be placed arround 10cm from the conveyor belt and the bottle..

The camera will be ordinary webcam since high speed and high resoultion cameras are expensive in INDIA

also when I load this onto VIsion and try to do something in Machine vision I get this  error message stating that :

The image is a 32 bit RGB while edge detector supports only 8bit,binary ,16 bit

what should i do ?

There is a function called "Extract color planes" Use this and select luminance plane.Your edge detector shld work

Try using the clamp function directly first.Tweak a little with the smoothening the edge strength.Then you will come to know the filter that u might need to apply.
