EVS-1464 (Windows) has no audio device?

We recently purchased an EVS-1464 (Windows) to use in acquiring two video streams, as well as an audio stream. All three streams are being logged to disk for later analysis. After getting the two firewire cameras to play nicely with one another I began development on the audio stream, only to discover Windows 7 reports there aren't any audio devices installed. This seems rather confusing as there are two 3.5mm audio jacks on the front of the box.

Looking at device manager there are definitely no audio/multimedia devices installed, nor are there any missing drivers for any device. I've hunted through the BIOS settings hoping that there was something to enable the onboard audio, but couldn't find anything.

Have I missed something here, or does the 1464 really not have an audio device?

Hi Michael,

I don't know off-hand if the EVS is supposed to have the audio enabled. I realize it has the jacks but I would not be suprised if the necessary audio support is not available in the BIOS. I apologize if this was unclear in the product description.

I would suggest purchasing a $10 adapter such as this for your audio needs: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812186046

Devices such as these make use of the standard USB audio class and so they don't need any additional drivers on Windows and should work out-of-the-box.

We were looking at an external USB sound device in the event the audio input wasn't suitable for our application, so that's an OK solution. It just seems like a rather large oversight to manufacture the hardware with audio jacks, but not to include any software support. They're even mentioned in the manual as line level inputs and outputs.

Is there or will there be a BIOS available that enables audio?

Hi Michael,

I see exactly what you are talking about and can understand your confusion. I am not sure what their implementation timeline is, such as whether they used to have support or will have support in the future.

I have talked to R&D about this and will let you know as soon as I get more information.

Best Regards,
