Editing in VBAI 3.6.1 Variable Manger causes calculator steps to fail

One thing I have noticed, is when I open a very similar inspection that is working, it creates the following files in c:\Documents and Settings\<Me>\Local Settings\Temp\VBAI:

 Good

But when I open the corrupted project, only the following files are created:

Bad.JPG

I know the .png files are the images used in the Calibrate and Match Pattern steps, and the Inspect.bin appears to be a (compiled?) file that holds the steps, etc. in the inspection. Not sure what the .vi file is though.

Also, not sure I mentioned this, but the error that the Calculate step is displaying at the bottom when selected is: 'Invoke Node in IVB GCal'.  I'm sure there's more verbage to this error, but that is all that can be displayed.

Thanks again!

There doesn't look like there's anything in the INI file that affects the Calculator step working. The fact that your other steps are getting screwed up is also concerning. Does this happen with a new inspection, or just the one that is giving you trouble? If this happens with new inspections, I would use the Vision Builder AI Installer to repair your installation. If it doesn't happen with a new inspection, something may be corrupt in your inspection. If you want to send it to me I could try to check it out, or you could try making a small subset of it from scratch and see if it has any problems. If you don't want to start from scratch, you will probably need to send your inspection in if the installer repair of VBAI doesn't fix the problem. If you don't want to post your inspection on the forum, let me know and I can contact you separately.

Thanks,

Brad

The VI is what is used by the calculator step. For some reason the steps are not saving the files they need and that's why they don't work. As mentioned earlier, you can try a repair of Vision Builder AI, but there may be something wrong with that inspection and it would be good to know if this happens with a new inspection or just the one that is giving you trouble.

Thanks,

Brad

Thanks Brad.

I spoke to NI Tech Support and they suggested I do a repair also.  I'll post whether it fixes it or not.
