I have installed only Labview , Vision Acquisition and Vision Builder.
I must install Real-Time module and Vision Development Module too, for using NI1722 in Labview?
Thanks

Hi grekop,
You only need Real-Time if you are doing a Real-Time application. The Vision Development Module is not required to use the smart camera, but has some added functionality that you may like. Here's the link to more information on VDM: http://www.ni.com/vision/vdm.htm

Hi Kristen
I have a similar problem to grekop, I have Labview 9.0 installed, I can grab pictures through MAX and Vision Assistant and IMAQ Vision Builder 6.1. I have a NI 1742 connected through ethernet, but I can't add the Smart Camera as a target or device, I send you an image of the problem:
Here I inserted the IP address of the camera but the OK button is disabled.
Do I need another software? Here's the software I have installed:
Thanks for your help.
PD. How can I attach a word file instead of images?

bebin,
This is still a problem relating to RealTime or versioning. It looks like you have LV 2009 (but I can't tell if you have LV RealTime 2009 on your PC because LV 2009 section isn't expanded). It looks like you have LV RT 8.5.1 on you camera. Double check you have LV RT 2009 installed on the PC. Then right-click on the smart camera in Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) and select Add/Remove software. You can then load LV RT 2009 on the smart camera. You want the same version of RT on the camera and PC.
If you are using VBAI on the smart camera and using the Run LV VI step, you will need to install LV 8.6 and LV RT 8.6. This is because VBAI is built using LV. Since development of VBAI and the next release of LV are simultaneous, VBAI development uses the previous version of LV. This is only a concern if using the Run LV VI step because it requires that the VI and VBAI use the same compiler, which means same version.
I hope this helps

Hi Kristen, thanks for your answer. Of course, I have LabVIEW 2009 and LabVIEW Real-Time module 2009 installed on the PC.
I can see that Smart Camera have installed LabVIEW Real-Time 8.5.1, but when I try to update to LV RT 9.0 (2009):
and I see the review selections:
Then I click Next and the next error message appears:
I understand about dependencies (like Windows services), so, I unistalled succesfully Vision Builder AI 3.6.1, but the problem persist with Variable Client Support for LabVIEW 1.4.1, then I tried to update it to Variable Client Support 1.6.0 which is available on the host
but another error message appeared:
I don't understand this last error, because when I was searching any solution to this problem, I found this page: "Creating Remote Front Panels with a Smart Camera" where I can see they have LabVIEW Real-Time 9.0 and Network Variable Engine 1.4.1 and Variable Client Support for LabVIEW 1.6.0 at the same time. So, I think it means that is possible to update in my case but I don't know if there should to be an specific order to update the software, or should I uninstall Network Variable Engine 1.4.1 and Variable Client Support for LabVIEW RT 1.4.1 to update the Smart Camera to LabVIEW Real-Time 9.0, and then back to install the others programs needed?
Thanks for your help.

Hi again, I forgot to tell you, when I try to update or reinstall Network Variable Engine 1.4.1 (the one which depends of Variable Client Support) to version 1.6.0 which is available, appears the error message:
Cannot continue because of the following unresolved dependencies:
NVE Core 1.6.0 requires Variable Client Support for LabVIEW RT 1.6.0
This is something strange for me, because first, there is no any NVE Core 1.6.0 on the list of features to install or installed, and second, NVE Core 1.6.0 requires Variable Client Support for LabVIEW RT 1.6.0, and that's the version which I'm trying to update.
Thanks for your help.

Hi, I don't understood about using Run LabVIEW VI step, I'm just gonna make a VI using the Smart Camera. Something similar like the VI in Figure 5.1 of the next article in page 4 (but with other application): Botellas etiquetadas en LabVIEW
Thank you very much!

Hi bebin,
I am not sure about this issue because it is some "inner dependencies" from what I can tell. In other words, it is part of something else, not a stand-alone. I honestly think that formatting the Smart Camera would be the quickest and easiest solution at this point. A smart camera is a Real Time target. Here is a link about reformatting RT targets. This will allow you to start fresh. Let me know how it goes

Hi Kristen, thanks for your comments. Guess what? This morning (10-may) I updated the software of the Smart Camera, I chose update everything, I unistalled Vision Builder and Language Support for LabVIEW and everything is up-to-date:
Even so, I can't add the Camera as a Target or Devices because it doesn't appears in the Add Targets and Devices window. I'm feeling a little bit dissapointed about this.
I was watching at this page:Add targets and devices dialog box and I don't have the option of Add device on remote subnet, I guess I need this because I have the Smart Camera connected through ethernet. What do you think about it?
Thank you so much for your help.
