Help Required For Surface Inspection

Hi,

   I have to inspect surface of the piston,for defect like,crack,spot, please help me to select appropriate camera and light ,please find attached photograph of the piston

I having the privilage of developing a machine vision system for piston inspection would like you to take into account the following

1. The surface will be oily and will not look so shiny (go for a low angle diffused lighting).

2. Is there any measurement involved? Then you have to use a lot of indirect measurements.

 3.Dont go for a line scan camera (remember you are going to kill mechanical guys happiness)

The first and foremost point is how time have you got to inspect a piston?
