How to use NI-IMAQ high-level functions with visual basic (not using CW)?

We want to use the function libraries with NI-IMAQ in microsoft visual basic. However, we do not find any .bas files for including in visual basic projects. In the manual it says we need to link dll's but we are not sure where those are or which ones they are. We do not want to use the Component Works for NI-IMAQ (cwimaq). Please let us know how to include the appropriate function libraries so that we can use the high-level functions listed in the NI-IMAQ function reference manual with Microsoft Visual Basic v6.0.

You can link the library by going to project>>references and selecting ni-imaq library. This should give you access.

In visual basic, the ni-imaq library option does not exist in the project>>references tree. The only NI related option is "National Instruments MaxCtrl 1.0". I've installed all the components (including the c support). How can we get this option to appear?
