I want to use machine vision to inspect thru-hole PCB's.

At my company we are considering using machine vision to inspect thru-hole PCB's. These boards have Resistor diode capacitors To92 and TO220 transistors. Does anyone have any experance with this. How well does it work. How can I get machine vision to read the resistor color codes.

I created a system for inspecting components on a circuit board for a previous customer. I could help you set yours up if you are interested.

When you use a color camera, the NI board will convert the image to HSL, which makes it fairly easy to read color codes.
