IMAQdx Requirements

We have a prototype dual channel cameralink camera in development.

One of our potential customers has requested a demo but requires
GigE protocol.

We purchased two of the Pleora PT1000-CL GigE to Cameralink converters
for this demo as discrussed in a previous NI thread.

We intend to use a laptop (for portability) using the built-in 100Mb (not 1Gb) NIC
and another 100Mb NIC installed in the PCMCIA slot. I intend to bridge the two
connections and use crossover CAT5 cables. I could have just used the built-in
NIC and an external 4-port 100Mb switch but we would 'like' portability for the setup.

I am having great difficulty with NI-MAX in that multiple installs of IMAQdx does not
show the cameras or IMAQdx itself. No other NI sw exists on the system. We
intend to demo the camera through the NI-MAX interface as we do with our
NI-1430e and NI1426 Cameralink framegrabber boards.

What are the requirements to get IMAQdx to install? Hardware and software.

Our intentions are to eval GigE prior to commiting to an internal hardware solution
for our camera. Hopefully the demo of IMAQdx would allow this....

Hi csk,

I know that when the Pleora PT1000-CL was first released, it was not actually compatible with GigE Vision; however, since then, they released a firmware upgrade that made it work.  I would suggest confirming with Pleora that you have the correct firmware to be Gige Vision compatible as described in the document below:

GigE Vision Compliancy

If your camera is GigE Vision compliant, it should automatically show up in MAX under NI-IMAQdx.  The IMAQdx folder in Devices and Interfaces does not show unless there is a GigE or IEEE 1394 camera detected.  If you run into further problems, I would also recommend following the papers below:

Acquiring from GigE Vision Cameras with Vision Acquisition Software - Part I

Acquiring from GigE Vision Cameras with Vision Acquisition Software - Part II

I hope this helps.

Vu

You were right. Pleora released a fw that is GEV (GigE) compliant.
PT-1000CL now is seen under IMAQdx tab.

Thankyou.
