Imaq for 1394

I have read that if you want to use a firewire camera for data acquisition, you need to buy the drivers. Does the Imaq for 1394 software include the drivers? Does this software allow me to have machine vision, or will I need to also purchase the Imaq machine vision software. Also, I just want to make sure, but with this type of setup, the only hardware I will need is the firewire camera? Any help would be appreciated. thanks.

What you need to use firewire cameras:

Firewire camera (of course)
Firewire interface in computer. Make sure it can provide power to the camera if necessary.

NI's IMAQ for 1394 software. This will provide the interface to get the images into LabVIEW.

If you don't want to process the images, that's all you need. If you want the tools for processing, you need the IMAQ Vision Toolkit.

If you want help figuring out the hardware, call Robert Eastlund at Graftek Imaging (800) 441-2118. If you would like help putting together an application, contact me at Ammons Engineering (810) 687-4288.

I also wanted to add that you can find a list of compatible firewire cameras from the following Knowledge Base:

http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/3efedde4322fef19862567740067f3cc/afded7f599e8a73a8625689e007672e5?OpenDocument

This KB discusses what firewire cameras are compatible with the NI firewire driver. Please let us know if you have any further questions or if we can be of any sales assistance.
