Hi, I'd like to select a ROI manually to increase the frame rate of a NI Smart Camera 1742 when using IMAQ Grab. I watched that IMAQ Grab Setup have a input called Region of Interest and in the Help i see that Region of Interest specifies a rectangular portion of the image. When I create a control for that input, just appears a spice of array of numeric controls. How is the proper way to use that input? Could I get a higher frame rate doing it? I send the acquired images for TCP and then are saved in an AVI file, so, I'd like control the settings like Partial Scan, Exposure Time and Gain to get a higher frame rate and send the information via TCP.
Thanks for your comments
I attached an image of what I try to do, but which image enter in the IMAQ Select Rectangle VI?

I dont think you can increase the frame rate by manually selecting the ROI. You can use max and play around with the settings (shutter speed).

Hi Bebin,
On the 17xx Smart Cameras, changing the ROI won't change the frame rate, just the size of the image acquired. Assuming you are not limited by the shutter rate, you can modify the binning and partial scan settings to achieve a higher frame rate. Check out the "HL Grab (NI 17xx Series)" example that is shipped with IMAQ.

Hi, thanks for your answers. I understand now about ROI won't change the frame rate. How can I now if I am limited by the shutter rate? Of course, I've played with the settings in MAX (Exposure time, Gain and Partial Scan) and I get a Max Frame Rate of 175 when normal is 60 fps. And about the HL GRAB (NI 17xx Series), I've used it too and I get the same fps. My answer is if I use that values for settings can I make an AVI file sending informatiion via TCP or at sending info is frame rate lost? Because I modify this Streaming Images from a Compact Vision System to a local AVI in combination with the HL GRAB (NI 17xx Series) to be able to make the AVI file at a higher frame rate.
