After having enjoyed working with the versatile and robust 2D matrix reader for locating and reading rotated and skewed 2D codes, I was a bit disappointed in learning that the 1D barcode reader needs a very precise ROI for correct operation - even a small offset or scale may give erroneous results.
What are you using for robust localization of 1D barcodes prior to reading? Geometric pattern matching? Switching to 2D codes? Interfacing to more robust third-party barcode readers?
