Motion Detection with IMAQ USB

I've already asked this question in my old thread ( http://forums.ni.com/t5/Machine-Vision/The-Measurement-amp-Automation-application-does-not-detect-my... ) but since the original problem was different, the title might be misleading now so it'll be the best if I'll start a new one.

It seems that I cannot use the IMAQ libraries with my USB camera. I’m still trying to make that motion detector but I have to use the IMAQ USB blocks instead. The thing is, most of the libraries that work with the IMAQ are not compatible with IMAQ USB and all the detectors I have found in the Internet use at least one of those blocks. Could someone please give me an example of motion detector build with only the IMAQ USB and compatible blocks? Or at least guide me how to compare the two acquitted images (one being held for 50 ms) in the program I have here?

Hey Deadpool,

Can you please explain more in detail please what you mean under this sentance:

"The thing is, most of the libraries that work with the IMAQ are not compatible with IMAQ USB and all the detectors I have found in the Internet use at least one of those blocks."

What libraries are you referring to? In you example I can not see exactly. If you have the correct functions that acqure from USB camera, than the ones that make the processing are identical to the ones you would use with images coming from for example a firewire camera.

Best,

Hi.

I didn't make myself clear. The problem was, not all the IMAQ blocks had their counterparts with the IMAQ USB libraries. So when I tried to replace, for example, IMAQ Init.vi with IMAQ USB Init.vi, it was OK. But when the next component was e.g. IMAQ Configure List.vi, I had nothing to replace it with and there was a conflict between both these blocks.

But I have solved this problem in other way - I've just installed LabVIEW 2010 with the latest VDM and VAS where the IMAQdx blocks work with all the standard USB cams. Well... technically it doesn't count as a "solution" but it works for me.

IMAQdx has superseded IMAQ USB which was kind of a beta product.
