NI embedded and 3D sensors

Hi, I wanted to know if anyone here has any experience using the Ensenso 3D sensors with NI Embedded Hardware (CVS or Industrial Controllers)? I am working on a machine vision application for quality control and I know that the sensors are compatible with labview, but dont know if they will work with the embedded devices. If not, can anyone recommend any stereo vision or projected light 3D sensors to use with these embedded systems??

Thank you

Hello PanchoPantera,

From what I can see, these sensors do indeed work with the GigE standard. I'm not sure exactly what format the camreas/sensors present data, but if it is a 2D array, we should be able to work with it using our IMAQdx driver on the Industrial Controllers or CVS (this is a typical use case for them). Out of curiosity, how do you know that these are compatible with LabVIEW? Do you see that somewhere in the documentation for the camera? Does IDS have a LabVIEW SDK that you can download and use? Do they expect you to use the Vision Acquisition Software (name of the package that installs IMAQdx)?

This info will help us determine how best to move forward.

Looking into the link you posted it appears that the LabVIEW library is a .NET assembly (I'm assuming it is a couple of wrapped up .NET constructor nodes that are making calls). The .NET framework is not supported on an RT target and the link below confirms that information.

Are you looking to build out a system? Do you need more formal recommendations for your needs? I would recommend speaking to one of our sales engineers who can help out with this kind of thing from a higher level perspective. They also have access to support engineers like myself to iron out the details.
