You can check out the document called How Can I Make My OCR Operation More Robust? and also browse through the links at the end of the document. Those suggestions might help you out. Usually some problems also are found in the image, applying filtering to increase its contrast, etc., I don't guess this is going to be your case but you might take it in account.
