PCI-1409

I have a PCI-1409 with a Hitachi Denshi KP-MIU camera. I would like to upgrade the system to Windows 7 and Labview 2015. Is the PCI-1409 still supported on this platform?

The 1409 has had support carried through all of our IMAQ drivers in the past and we don't typically drop support for hardware in our drivers, so you should be fine to upgrade to LabVIEW 2015 on Windows 7. If you do have any trouble with it, please get in touch with our technical support!

Would IMAQ be the same as the NI vision acquisition software? It looks like IMAQ does not have a Windows 7 driver.

The NI Vision Acquisition software does include IMAQ drivers.  I am not 100% sure the 1409 is still supported, though.  The hardware was obsoleted several years ago, and I don't know if it is still in the current IMAQ drivers.  It doesn't hurt to try, though.

Is there a card that you recommend we migrate to from the 1409?

The problem is the analog video signal.  I would suggest upgrading the camera.  There are many USB3 cameras that are quite affordable and work well.

If you can't upgrade the camera, you will need some sort of adapter that will convert the analog video signal to something usable.  I don't know of any specific adapters, but I know they exist.

I looked in the details of the Vision Acquisition software and it says:

NI Vision Acquisition Software includes the following drivers:

  • NI-IMAQ is driver software for the following device types:
    • NI 17xx smart cameras
    • analog cameras
    • parallel digital cameras
    • Camera Link cameras

Does NI-IMAQ still support the PCI-1409? I can't say for sure, but it sure seems like this is what it was intended for. I suppose I will have to test it to verify.

Since it mentions analog cameras, you might be fine.  Since you can't get the boards anymore, I haven't tried to use an analog camera for years.

I did a quick search, and it looks like the 1409 support has been maintained, so I think you will be okay.  The only way to know for sure is to try it, though.
