I have Prosilica 1394 camera and without LabView istalled on my PC. So I'm just wondering if anyone know where can i find a Freeware software utility that can interface with the camera and record an image in *.avi format to hard drive, for at least 1 hrs.
Thanks,
Shaun

Hi Shaun
National Instruments does not offer any free software for recording AVI's to your hard drive. The Vision Acquisition Software provides support for 1394 firewire cameras however this software package is not free. I know Prosilica cameras I have had in the past have come with some of their own software which may provide you with the ability to save images and record AVI's so this may be worth investigating.

Eric,
Thanks for your response. Yes, Prosilica provides some demo package but it record only 3 seconds duration. Just wondering if i can record an image from the IMAX utility?

Hi Shaun
To use a 1394 camera you would need the IMAQdx drivers which are included in the Vision Acquisition Software, while this does include support for recording to an AVI format it but it is not free. If you would like a quote on this software please call (888) 280-7645. If prosilica does not offer free software for recording with the camera to AVI then this may be your best option.
