Route output to a serial port from NI Vision Assistant

Hi,

I am using Ni Vision assistant 2009 to acquire an image and do color patter matching. However, once I detect a match, I wish to trigger or send an output to either a microcontroller or an FPGA. I am not sure how to do that from withing NI Vision Assistant. Is it even possible ? And if instead I have to use Labview for the same, how do I do this in Labview? Any help will be appreciated

It is not possible. Vision assistant is not intentented to be used this way. It is just to process the image. In labVIEW write a trigger program. Use VISA functions to get the trigger. You can generate the code from vision assistant and use this after the trigger program.

Another possibility is VBAI (Vision Builder for Automated Inspection).  You set up an inspection very similar to Vision Assistant, but it has the ability to run stand alone and it can handle input and output trigger signals.
