Setting Smart Camera Date and Time via web interface

Howdy-

I'm using an NI Smart Camera (1722) in a client server app with a Windows PC logging data exported via ethernet.  Works well, except I can't seem to get the Date Time to set correctly using the Smart Camera's web configuration interface.  After many/many attempts I can get it to remember, but no rhyme or reason as to why it works some times and not others.

Example:

1. Smart Camera starts up: 1/1/1970 8:00AM EST

2. Open Web Interface

3. Go to Date/Time Settings screen

4. Set Time Zone

5. Set Time

6. Set Date

7. Click Save

8. Message to reboot / Click Reboot

9. Camera Reboots and date is still 1/1/1970, time is different (due to TimeZone change, but not Time Set (Step 5)

Notice that changing just the time does not prompt for Save - which is strange..

Anyone know how to set the Camera via a PC side LV App? (I cannot add time server as this is a private network with no time server..)

Seems simple.. 🙂

Hello Jeff,

I'm not able to replicate the issue you are seeing.  Would you be able to post a few screenshots of the web interface as you are seeing it?  Also, is there an inspection or a VI deployed to the smart camera when you are accessing it?

Hi Jeff,

The 172x, 174x, and 176x smart cameras do not have a real-time clock and thus cannot keep track of time when they are shut down or rebooted. You would need a time sever of some sort if you want them to always have the time set.

The newer 177x series smart cameras do in fact have a real-time clock so they can keep time without a time server if desired.

Hope this helps,
Eric
