Smart Camera connected with CNC machine using PROFINET

Dear all,

I was wondering if it is possible to connect some CNC machine and NI Smart Camera via PROFINET?

What I've found is that I can connect this machine to PC using a COMSOFT Board and then create some LabVIEW software on PC, but I want to implement my software in Smart Camera and connect it directly to CNC machine.

Hi Marcin,

Unfortunately you won't be able to interface directly via PROFINET.

Is there another industrial protocol that you could implement to communicate with CNC machine?

What other components do you have in your system?

Depending on the requirements, it might be easier for you to have a cRIO in the system.

There is a C Series module that can be used in a cRIO and it offers PROFINET slave functionality.

Hi! Thanks for your respond!

I'm not sure if I can use some other protocol. I just have a task to find if there is a possibility to connect this parts via PORFINET. I will check if there is another protocol I could use and then decide what to do.

About cRIO module I've been reading few weeks ago, but my co-workers said that  we need some direct connection.

I'll check other solutions.
