Sony handycam

Hi,
I have a Sony DCR-HC16E PAL DV camera which I connect to my PC through a firewire cable. Can anyone tell me whether or not I can use it with the NI vision acquisition software?
The problem is that MAX recognizes it as a bus class 61883 deviceand doesn't allow me to changebthe driver to use  the imaq1394 driver.
Thank you

This is not a compatible device.  It uses compressed video, and the NI drivers require uncompressed video.

I seem to remember it might work with other drivers, though.  If it is directshow compatible, it would work with the USB drivers.  There might be a third party driver for it, also.

Hi,

Have you tried the IVision Labview toolkit?  http://www.hytekautomation.com/Products/IVision.html

If the free link provided by Sandesh does not work for you, the company Alliance Vision has another DirectX driver compatible with LabVIEW and the Vision Development Module, as well as a DV library to acquire images from any DV camcorder.
