Synch pci-1428 by a RS232 device

I am designing a system that uses a serial (RS232) device to trigger the image acquisition (Dalsa 1M75 camera) at high framerate (60fps+).
I also need to get readings from the serial device inside my PC. So my software controller will get a synchronized pair of the serial reading and an image.
What is the best way to do this ?

As long as you set up the acqusition to be based on an external trigger all you will have to worry about is the accuracy of the trigger signal coming from your serial device.
