I am a seasoned LabVIEW developer, and I am working on a vision project with 10 identical firewire A cameras (AVT Guppy).
My HP workstation has 2 firewire cards :
- PCI 3-port (preinstalled)
- Added a PCI-Express 3-port card (Belkin)
I have 2 (powered) 6-port firewire hubs.
Each hub is connected to 5 cameras and to one of the firewire cards.
Each camera is recognized in MAX, and is configured to 400 Mbit, and to a video mode of 640x480, mono, at 15 fps.
This means (according to the firewire bandwidth calculator : 13% per camera).
So this is 5x 13% per firewire card = 65% load.
